How to resize an image
- Drop your images into the box above, or click it to choose files.
- Choose Percentage (for example 50%) or Width and height. With Keep aspect ratio on, the image fits inside the size you give, so one side is enough.
- Pick the format under Save as. Same as original keeps JPG, PNG and WebP; HEIC and AVIF are saved as JPG.
- Download each image, or all of them at once as a zip file.
Good to know
- Big reductions are done in several halving steps, which keeps text and fine edges sharper than a single jump.
- Enlarging cannot add detail that was never there; for printing, start from the original photo.
- If a form limits the file size in KB rather than the pixel size, use the image compressor instead.
How it works
Pixels and print size
The pixel size decides how much detail an image can show. Printed size depends on pixels and DPI: at 300 DPI, a 1200×1800 px image prints at about 10×15 cm (4×6 in). For screens, the pixel size is all that matters.
JPG
JPG (JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format. It uses lossy compression, so files stay small, but it has no transparency and quality drops a little every time it is re-saved.
PNG
PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparency. It is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, but photos saved as PNG are much larger than JPG.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between resizing and compressing?
- Resizing changes the number of pixels (for example 4000×3000 to 1200×900). Compressing keeps the pixels but lowers the file size in KB. Forms usually ask for one or the other.
- Will my photo be stretched?
- Not with Keep aspect ratio on: the photo is scaled to fit inside the width and height you enter. Turn it off only if you need an exact size and accept the stretch.
- Can I resize iPhone HEIC photos?
- Yes. They are resized and, with Same as original, saved as JPG because browsers cannot write HEIC.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything happens inside your browser, so contracts, statements and private photos stay on your device.
- Is it free? Are there limits?
- It is completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark. How much you can process depends only on your device’s memory.
- Does it work on my phone?
- Yes, in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Samsung Internet and other modern browsers.
